LCF partners with Cottar’s Safari to give young creatives the chance to visit the conservationist lodge in Kenya

LCF has recently begun a partnership with Cottar’s Safari in Kenya – a conservationist lodge that is in the process of documenting its 94 year history through art, film and photography.

We are offering art students in the UK the opportunity to become a part of that process by making three work experience placements (duration – 3 weeks) available. The placement – which will include full room and board for the successful applicants during their stay – will focus on the recovery and digitalisation of the aforementioned artwork for use in Cottar’s upcoming commemorative book.

A proportion of the profits from the book will go towards Cottar’s continuing conservationist efforts in their local community and throughout Kenya.

In addition to working towards this worthy cause, our hope is that the three lucky candidates who are accepted onto the program will acquire some appreciation for the need to constantly diversify efforts in business (Cottar’s began life in 1919 as a hunting safari and has changed dramatically since then), and for the power of art as a medium for social change.
Further, we hope it will provide the young artists in question with the opportunity to publicise their skills to the wider job market in this difficult time for young creatives. Each of the three will be credited fully for their efforts in the book – and will also be given the opportunity to provide their own artwork for inclusion in it.

As part of our promotional drive, the opportunity to visit Cottar’s will be made available only to those who share news of the opportunity by their social media platforms. This announcement will be sent live on our social media channels at 12pm GMT on Monday 9th January 2015. Please take a moment to shareretweettumblerize or pin this message as it goes live – and encourage your friends to do the same – for the chance to be involved in this exciting project.

After sharing, please email your CV with a short cover letter explaining how you feel you would benefit from this opportunity. We will contact the best candidates who have met both conditions for application in the coming month, and will narrow down our selection to our final three in early February.
